The Flavel

Flavel Place, Dartmouth TQ6 9ND, UK – 01803 839530

If the Flavel left Dartmouth, so would I! The Flavel is the best arts centres I have ever been to and has a vast array of entertainment to suit every taste. The Coffee Couture Cafe downstairs serves great cofree every day 9am to 5pm and the Flavel bar upstairs is open for drinks after that. Thank you to all the full-time members of staff and the hundreds of volunteers who run the Flavel. Do come along and see for yourself!

Thriving Arts venue for the people of Dartmouth and around. Enjoyed a streamed film of Akran Khan's Giselle performed by the English National Ballet - edgy and powerful

Dartmouth Castle

Castle Rd, Dartmouth TQ6 0JN, UK – 0370 333 1181

We went to see A Midsummer Night’s Dream performed at the castle. The event was wonderful, the cast was funny and enthralling and the views were stunning. I highly recommend this as a place to visit and to walk down the small path down to the sea. My partner and I went swimming after the performance (and a few wines..) and then enjoyed the moon on the water from the castle wall. Beautiful.

There are a few things of interest here. The castle is more fun for young children but has some interesting points. A bit on the expensive side though. Nice little shop attached. There is free parking but not many spaces. Disability access looks difficult but is supposed to be there. The view on a sunny day is to die for. Next to the castle there is a small cafe, it does great cream teas which are reasonable, they serve other food and drinks too. The place is clean and the staff bringing your order to you. You can sit in or out with plenty seating. It's very popular. Down a small path you will find a lovely old church called St Petroc's. It's well worth a 15 to 20 minute walk around. The whole thing is a wonderful place just to chill out for an hour before heading back to busy Dartmouth.
